Aunt Judy & Cara photo by Uncle Bill Walton

I have been thinking about how I would write this since I heard of this heartbreak early monday morning. Nothing seems to be good enough, isn’t that what they always say? . I had been on tour for 10 days, and was feeling pretty accomplished, when I woke to 5 missed calls from Cara, my father, my brothers and sister. then a text from Justin asking “have you heard from Cara?” I knew something was wrong, but was not prepared for what words would fall from my fathers lips. When he said “your Aunt Judy has passed away”….

I am still in shock, still not really convinced….is this how it always feels at first?

You were such an enormous part of my life, my growth, my goofy personality(something picked up from you, as well as mom & dad you are all such silly silly amazing folks).

The first thing through my mind was your face, smiling and laughing that unique laugh, that infectious sound…. Sometimes when I laugh I think “that sounded just like Aunt Judy!” then that makes me laugh all the more.

Really it seems as if this is all a dream, I will wake and you will be there telling silly stories of all the ruckus 6 kids(this includes Cara, whom I always thought of as a sister) could create for their parents, or the practical jokes between uncle Bill, you & mom.

You were such a bright spirit, always pushing back when life was hard. Teaching me no matter how much(or how little) money we had did not matter, it was the love between us that truly was our wealth.

I feel like nothing I say can portray you in the light you deserve, I Loved you and learned a great deal from having you as my family and will cherish you in my memories and sing to you from the stage, dance for you in the street and know you are smiling at me and laughing that laugh that could penetrate the most stubborn soul….

I Love & miss you, Aunt Judy….

Your niece,

Aunt Judy
